For 2011, IPMA has awarded projects that achieved top performance and are internationally acknowledged as best examples of project excellence.
The Gala Dinner with the elite of projects in the world that have all achieved international standards of excellence took place on 11th of October during the 25th IPMA World Congress in Brisbane.
This year is the 10th consecutive year for the International Project Excellence Awards competition.
During the congress the participants had the unique opportunity to meet the Award finalists at the presentations where they shared their outstanding achievements.
The IPMA Project Excellence Award Winner for 2011 is GE Oil & Gas – Contractual Services with a project Qatar Modular Replacement.
The Award Winners from GE Oil & Gas: Michele Filidoro and Carlo Gragnoli are pictured at right. Below are details about the winning project:
QatarGas Fr 5 Modular Replacement (MR) project covers implementation of new MR maintenance philosophy on General Electric (GE) Frame 5 heavy-duty mechanical drive gas turbines. Under a QG-GE Contractual Service Agreement these turbines require ‘Major Inspection’ each 48,000 working hours.
This takes 28 days to complete. MR was applied in a cascade process to all QatarGas 1’s Train 1, 2 and 3 turbines. The project phases are: Planning and Engineering study, Procurement of new modules, Installation and Module repair, Storage. GE supported further QG in establishing and certifying Qatar Service Centre to repair modules and store turbines between repair cycles.
