The IPMA Education and Training Board is responsible for our involvement in academic education and learning programmes, and for professional training and development programmes. As well, Education and Training supports other IPMA areas, including Certification, Awards, Membership, and Research.

A key challenge facing all PM practitioners is to assure that their PM learning and training efforts and costs actually return the intended benefits. We all face this challenge, whether the purpose of the learning is individuals’ career development, their certification, or for increased project or programme success, or for improved performance of the sponsoring organizations. The goal of IPMA Education and Training, together with IPMA Competence Baseline, our framework for relevant learning, is to assist all our Member Associations and their stakeholders, to succeed in this challenge.

John-Paris Pantouvakis (Greece), M.Eng., M.Sc., PhD, C.Eng; following a ten year career in industry moved to Academia and is now Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and Visiting Professor at Nazarbayev University in Kazakshtan. John-Paris is also an Adjunct Lecturer and a Postgraduate Module Coordinator at the Hellenic Open University. He is the President of PM-Greece, the Greek IPMA Member, a First Assessor for IPMA Certification in Greece and a trained IPMA Project Excellence Awards Lead Assessor. He also serves as a Member of the Editorial Board of several Journals and as an International Editorial Advisor for the PMWorld Journal. He has organized several project management events in Greece including chairing the 26th IPMA World Congress (2012). More information is available at his personal website.

constanta bodeaConstanta Nicoleta Bodea (Romania)

Constanta-Nicoleta Bodeais Professor of Economic Cybernetics and Informatics at the Faculty of Cybernetics, Statistics and Economic Informatics, Academy of Economic Study Bucharest. She teaches Project Management, Artificial Intelligence, and Information Systems. She has managed research projects addressing competence management systems, technology enhanced learning and collaborative systems. She is the author of 21 books and more than 150 papers on Project Management, Information Systems, and Artificial Intelligence, being honoured by IPMA with the Outstanding Research Contribution in 2007.

Ashutosh Karnatak (India)

Ashutosh Karnatak, ME (Energy Studies), BE (Electrical), MBA (Finance), PhD and is presently pursuing Post-Doctorate in Business Administration on ‘Organizational Maturity in Project Management’. He has experience of more than 30 years in the Oil & Gas Industry managing projects of a total budget exceeding 5 Bn Euro. He had authored project management books and introduced new techniques such as ‘Arjuna – (MC4E2)e’ in Project Monitoring and Controlling. Besides project management, Ashutosh is also involved with astrology and other non-for-profit organizations.

Hans Knoepfel (Switzerland)

Hans Knoepfel, Dr. sc. techn., has been responsible for the Advanced Study Courses in the continuing PM education at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne in addition to his responsibilities in practice. His teaching and research engagement include Universities in Europe, the United States and Asia. He has published about 75 papers on project management in German, English and other languages. He contributed to the IPMA Competence Baselines, the IPMA Certification Systems for Individuals and Organisations, IPMA Expert Seminars and Professional Journals. Hans is an IPMA Fellow and a Honorary President of the Swiss Project Management Association.

Ed Naughton (Ireland)

Ed Naughton, BE, C. Eng., F.I.E.I, IPMA-A, PMP, is a graduate of University College Dublin where he read for a BE (civil). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers of Ireland; a Chartered Engineer (Ireland); a Professional Engineer in Canada (Province of British Columbia) and is a former board member of the IPMA. He also holds a Diploma in Applied Finance from the Irish Management Institute and an Honorary Master’s Degree from University College Cork for his contribution to the development of project management in Ireland. He is the director general of the Institute of Project Management of Ireland.

giovanni salamoneGiovanni Salamone (Italy)

Giovanni Francesco Salamone, holds a University degree inElectronic Engineering and has served as a Manager of General Electric, Italtel, Siemens AG and as a senior Management Consultant. He is a First Assessor of the Italian Certification Body. Author of ICB 3 and ICRG in the Italian language. He also coordinates and teaches Project Management Courses, based on ICB diffusing Project Management learning into Italian companies, Universities and Business Schools. He is responsible for promoting the IPMA Education Registration System in Italy and for the Italian version of the REG Guidelines. Past-President of “ANIMP-Italian Project Management Association”.
