5 December 2014 – Zurich, Switzerland and Tianjin, China – IPMA’s 2014 Research Conference completed earlier this week, 1-2 December, in Tianjin, China. Professor Anbang Qi, IPMA Research Chair and the event’s host, said he was very happy that all his IPMA friends and associates, regional speakers from the Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management, and fellow researchers could join him at his school, Nankai University.
The theme of the event was How to make Research Meet the needs of Practice in PM. The sessions delivered on that promise, with a range of Chinese and International speakers presenting on topics that largely focused on the unique characteristics of China’s style, and the needs for research initiatives.
Aptly launched by Professor Anbang Qi, the 2014 IPMA Research Conference began with welcoming comments from the University Dean and Vice President. Then, other representatives, including IPMA and Asia Pacific officers, expressed their welcomes. Next, Dr. Beverly Pasian, who served as a terrific host for the event, introduced the 2014 IPMA Research Award winners (covered more extensively elsewhere).
With more than 1200 participants, 10th international project management conference is the largest congress of Iran in regard to project management.
The conference theme focuses on the issues of strategic project management, PM techniques, project organization and knowledge management, and modern developments in related fields.
Hence, it is our belief that the wide spectrum of scientific management issues related to PM, would not allow limitations on the subjects to be presented and discussed throughout the event. The event is also aimed at providing fantastic opportunities for PM specialists to network with other individuals and organizations interest in related fields.

The main theme of the NORDNET 2015 Symposium in Copenhagen is how project management creates value – and even more value for the project process. By doing this you promote the value generation from the project. This demands good leadership behaviour combined with skilful application of methods and experiences.

IPMA Brasil joins efforts with the biggest engineering university in Latin America to promote IPMA Competence Baseline (ICB) and the second wave of project management in Brazil. The Federal University of Rio de Janeiro – UFRJ is promoting a seminar explaining what is IPMA, and the implication of this approach for Brazilian Project Managers.
Eduardo Linhares Qualharini, responsible for the Research Group for Project Management (NPPG) at Polytechnic School (POLI/UFRJ) explains: “ICB changes the traditional boundaries of project management. It is very important that engineers and all professions that join efforts in protect management understands the holistic view of the eye of competence”. The partnership between IPMA Brasil and NPPG/POLI/UFRJ has began in 2009.
The event has more than 100 professionals assigned. They participate in the Master in Project Management of NPPG/POLI/UFRJ. This was the first course in the Americas recognized in the IPMA Registration Education Programme, having more than 500 students today.

The Preliminary Agenda is now available for this exciting Asia Pacific Congress. China’s IPMA Member Association, the Project Management Research Committee (PMRC) is hosting the 1st Asia Pacific Federation of Project Management (apfpm) Conference; the 2nd International Project Management Association (IPMA) Research Conference; and the 18th Project Management Research Committee, China (PMRC) Conference.
PMRC was the host of the 2006 IPMA World Congress, in Shanghai, China; that year’s Congress remains as one of the best-ever for IPMA. This year’s group of events will be held in Beijing, China, on 29-30 November, 2014. IPMA has participated in many PMRC events over the years, and they are always among the best in our profession. IPMA Boards will participate in these events.
Especially noteworthy: This Congress is the inaugural apfpm conference, so it will also feature participation of Member Associations of the apfpm: China, USA, Singapore, Philippines, Taiwan, Peru, Nepal, Mexico, Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Chile, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Canada, Bangladesh, and Australia. Additionally, guests will be invited from Vietnam, Burma, Laos, Cambodia, and Brunei.
With a wide range of participants fr0m China and hosting IPMA international speakers, this event will be 1-2 December, 2014, in the Business School of Nankai University, Tianjin, China. This is the official 2014 IPMA research conference, organized by Research Management Board of IPMA; as such, a special feature will include the IPMA 2014 Research Awards. Nordnet 2014 will be held on 11–12 November 2014 in Helsinki, Finland. The event is staged by the Project Management Associations of the Nordic countries (Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland). Nordnet 2014 is combined with Finland’s biggest PM conference, Project Management Days 2014. This annual event brings together approximately 900 – 1,000 participants, 90–100 speakers and 20 partners.
The conference brings together project professionals from all over Nordic countries for discussions, networking and mutual exchange of experiences and views. The two-day Nordnet seminar is packed with highly interesting content. Over all there will be three keynotes and about 30 presentations in English.

PM Forum is one of the biggest events in project management in Europe. It is organized by the GPM German Project Management Association. GPM expects about 850 project managers and 50 sponsors and exhibitors in Nuremberg, Germany from 28-29 October.

With approximately 450 participants and more than 15 exhibitors, pma focus is Austria’s largest congress on project management as well as the most important gathering of the national project management sector. pma focus 2014 will take place on October 16th, 2014 in Vienna, Austria.
This year’s motto „Leadership – the art of leading“ will raise and shed light on the following questions: Is Leadership an art? Is every leader an artist? Is it possible to learn how to lead? And who needs leadership anyway?
The keynotes: Kurt Kotrschal, biologist, behavioural scientist and professor at the University of Vienna, will be speaking about his research on leadership with wolves and its implications on human leadership. Mario Bottazzi, longstanding actor, musician and singer for the Austrian legend EAV will be closing the day with his keynote “Liedership – what a musician can tell leaders”.
